In the regions, comprehensive national and regional plans with flood prevention measures are being implemented. Areas and settlements at risk of flooding have been identified. As part of preparations for the flood season, projects aimed at strengthening infrastructure and reducing risks are being actively implemented. The main activities are the construction and strengthening of protective dams and embankments, the installation of drainage canals and ditches, as well as the repair of water supply structures and storm sewer systems.

In Shymkent, 9 kilometers of the Badam River channel and the strengthening of the embankment were carried out in 6 settlements as part of the implementation of the roadmap. More than 34 kilometers of irrigation systems were installed within the framework of the engineering works plan. Emergency workers and specialists from local akimats regularly organize monitoring work in areas with a high risk of flooding. These measures are very important for controlling the water level in rivers and preventing dangerous situations.  In addition, city residents are being given instructions on what to do during a flood, and work is underway to explain the strict observance of safety rules. In order to ensure the safe passage of water, 26 kilometers of canals and 340 kilometers of ditches are being cleaned of garbage and vegetation. The akimat has prepared 10 thousand bags and 18 thousand tons of inert materials for emergency rescue and other urgent work during the flood period.

The working group of the Kostanay region's Emergency Situations Department visited the city of Rudny. During the working trip, a number of objects at risk of flooding were inspected. In the village of Pertsev, the condition of the temporary embankment 1.5 km long and the Sergeevsky bridge built along the village were inspected. In the village of FZO, the channel was additionally expanded with the help of engineering equipment to ensure the unhindered passage of melted snow water. An inspection of equipment that may be used during a flood was organized on the territory of Rudny Su Arnasy LLP.

Rescuers of the Kostanay region continue to monitor the work being carried out on the drainage channel near the village of Novoselovka in the Karasu district. A special duty has been organized to ensure the safety of the channel. Three hydro stations have been installed to monitor the water level. The operational headquarters responsible for monitoring and coordinating the activities is constantly checking the hydro stations and patrolling the area. For a more accurate assessment of the situation, aerial visual surveillance is used using unmanned aerial vehicles, which allows you to quickly detect any changes in the situation from a height. These devices constantly monitor the water level. An aerial drone is also used to monitor the situation, so changes are quickly noticeable. The length of the drainage channel is 14 kilometers. It is planned to expand the channel to increase its carrying capacity.

Active monitoring of flood-prone areas continues in the Kostanay region. The regional emergency response working group continues its working trips to the regions of the region, paying special attention to preparations for spring floods. After cleaning flood-prone areas in the village of Togyzak, Karabalyk district, including culverts, the working group visited hydro stations and sites. In the village of Karabalyk, additional culverts were installed to improve the system's capacity. In addition, work has been completed on creating a ditch system in the village of Togyzak, which will help effectively drain melted snow. In the Fedorov district, the working group got acquainted with the condition of flood-prone areas. Specialists checked the readiness of hydraulic structures and assessed preventive measures aimed at reducing the risk of flooding in settlements.

In Zhambyl region, an inspection of the Talas River was carried out. In order to assess the condition of water bodies and take measures to reduce the risk of flooding, representatives of local executive bodies, emergency response and specialized organizations, and industry organizations participated in this event. During the monitoring, the most dangerous sections of the Talas River were inspected, including the territories of the city of Taraz, Baizak and Zhambyl districts. Work on strengthening the banks was considered and planned. Tasks were given to relevant organizations to protect the population and prevent possible emergencies. Work will continue to monitor the condition of water facilities and implement measures to strengthen them.

In the East Kazakhstan region, the head of the Emergency Situations Department Rashid Blyalov and the regional governor Yermek Kosherbayev, as well as representatives of other interested departments, paid a working visit to the Zaisan district. Due to unusually warm weather, active snowmelt has begun in the region. The akim instructed to clean roads, remove snow and clean the tubing on the roadsides, as well as inspect all water supply structures. The forces of local executive bodies and the district emergency department have been mobilized for flood control measures. Methods of diverting groundwater and meltwater are being successfully used in the region, which allow reducing the risk of spring floods.

“It is planned to update the flood hazard map in East Kazakhstan, which will include each village and develop a detailed algorithm of actions in the event of an emergency,” - noted Rashid Blyalov, head of the EMERCOM of East Kazakhstan.

Preventive measures are being taken to remove snow in the territory of Astana city. To date, more than 3.4 million cubic meters of snow have been removed from settlements since the beginning of winter. Emergency workers conducted more than 10 raids, involving about 500 people.

In Petropavlovsk, 6 events were provided for in accordance with the engineering work plan for flood preparedness, all of which were fully implemented. In the Zarechny settlement and the Podgora microdistrict, work was carried out to strengthen protective embankments and dams with a total length of 6,260 meters. Work is underway to strengthen the slopes of the Uscheva protective dam by laying reinforced concrete slabs. 214 storm sewers were prepared. Reconstruction of the 1st lifting water pumping station of Kyzylzhar Su LLP was carried out.

In 2024, work was carried out to strengthen the coast with a length of 250 km in the Atyrau region. Work is underway to strengthen vulnerable areas of the coast and to construct additional dams and carry out current repairs on the Ural River in the Almaly village district of the Almaly rural district, along the "Saryozek" canal, around the water supply and sewage pumping stations in the Talkairan microdistrict of the Kairchakty rural district and the villages of Talgayran-2, Besikti and Akzhar.
