The full modernization of 9 automobile checkpoints located on the external borders of the EAEU with China, Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan continues.
Due to the temporary closure of the Gisht-Kuprik checkpoint (the adjacent Silk Road customs post of the Republic of Kazakhstan) by the Uzbek side to complete the construction work on the modernization, the Kaplanbek (Republic of Kazakhstan) and Navoi (Republic of Uzbekistan) checkpoints will be opened for the passage of individuals on foot, cars and buses by agreement of both parties.
The Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan sides simultaneously carried out modernization and technical equipment work at the Kaplanbek and Navoi checkpoints, and today the technical opening of these checkpoints was held.
Due to commissioning work, the passage of individuals, passenger vehicles and buses will be carried out in limited quantities from January 27 to February 5. Starting from February 5, the checkpoint will be fully operational.
Furthermore, in the second stage, after the parties agree, the passage of freight vehicles will be carried out at these checkpoints.
The "Kaplanbek" checkpoint was built according to advanced international standards and is equipped with the most advanced technological equipment used to carry out state control when crossing the border. All conditions have been created for the comfortable crossing of the border by individuals.
The entire cycle of traffic flow is automated. It is expected that the throughput will be increased to 20 thousand individuals and 800 vehicles per day.
The date of temporary closure of the "Silk Road" customs checkpoint will be announced later.
