Vice Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Kazakhstan Zh. Aliyev, Ambassador of Switzerland to the Republic of Kazakhstan S. Balmen and a delegation from the Swiss Federal Department of Development and Cooperation.
The main purpose of the meeting was to introduce the Blue Peace Central Asia regional initiative (BPCA), provide key strategic directions, capacity building and research, data exchange and dialogue platforms.
The Kazakh side expressed interest in cooperation in developing an information system for flood modeling and training personnel in this area.
In his speech, the Vice Minister expressed his readiness to cooperate by exchanging experience and advanced technologies in monitoring the quality of surface and marine waters, as well as flood forecasting.
Also, representatives of the EPRC informed representatives of the Swiss Federal Department of Development and Cooperation that Kazakhstan, being a party to the Paris Agreement and the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change, is pursuing an active climate policy.
Following the meeting, the parties expressed confidence that joining forces and concentrating resources will allow achieving significant results aimed at improving the environmental situation.
