A wreath-laying ceremony was held at the monument to the Hero of the Soviet Union Aliya Moldagulova in the capital, the official website of the Astana akimat reported.
This is the beginning of the events dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the Victory. First, wreaths were laid at the monument to the Kazakh hero Aliya Moldagulova, and then the military and the public observed a minute of silence in memory of the soldiers who died in the terrible war.
Major General Alsai Zhumanov, who participated in the event, noted that the entire population, along with the soldiers, rallied and helped to achieve victory.
“Today’s gathering is dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the Victory and the 100th anniversary of the birth of Aliya Moldagulova. I believe that such events will help teach the next generation to respect our heroes and not forget our history,” said the representative of the Department of Defense of Astana, Colonel Gani Artykov, in the reserve.
