TURKESTAN: KEY ISSUES IN THE EDUCATION SECTOR DISCUSSED AT THE ALKA MEETING

An expanded board meeting of the Regional Education Department was held in Turkestan. The agenda of the meeting included a summary of the second half of the 2024-2025 academic year and a report on the work done. In his Address to the People of Kazakhstan, the Head of State gave an instruction to modernize 1,300 schools throughout the republic. A list of 115 schools from the region was drawn up for the school modernization project and approved by the regional akim.
In accordance with the task, a plan was discussed for 2025-2027 to carry out major repairs and current repairs to the buildings of 115 schools, equipping the canteen, library, gym, providing security systems, furnishing classrooms, and equipping schools with study rooms.
The important meeting was attended by representatives of the education sector, responsible heads, deputy akims of districts and cities, and college directors. Deputy Akim of the region Beisenbai Tazhibayev listened to the reports of the heads of the sector and gave relevant instructions.
- The state provides great support to the education sector. Akim of the region Nuralkhan Oralbayuly instructed to systematize work in this area and continue important work. Last year, intensive work was carried out to improve the education infrastructure in the region. A number of urgent issues were resolved. Last year, the construction of 50 schools was launched, 26 of which were commissioned. Relevant work is also underway to improve the qualifications of our teachers. Last year, inspections were carried out to eliminate corruption and other shortcomings in the education sector. We will not stop working to improve the quality of education. At today's board meeting, urgent issues in the sector were identified and solutions were proposed. We must all work together in this direction, - said Beisenbai Tazhibayev, instructing to qualitatively implement projects and work within the framework of the "Year of Worker Professions".
Acting Head of the Regional Education Department Zhandos Makhanbetov reported on the work done in the sector. At the same time, the speakers spoke about the construction of educational facilities and explained the situation with the transition of institutions to natural gas. The modernization of children's camps and the quality of summer vacations were also discussed.
One of the pressing issues in society is improving the quality of education. At the collegial meeting, the quality of education between rural and urban schools was compared, and the level of education in educational institutions in each district was analyzed. At the same time, the issue of opening new specialties in the field of technical and vocational education was raised. Recommendations and instructions were included in the minutes, and a collegial resolution was adopted.
The work on transferring kindergartens in the region to the voucher financing system will continue. Kindergartens will be monitored. By the Resolution of the regional akim, the municipal institution "Psychological Support Center of the Turkestan Region" of the Education Department of the Turkestan Region was established.
Monitoring work was carried out in technical and vocational, post-secondary educational institutions in the Turkestan Region. The monitoring results identified a number of important issues. These issues indicate the need to ensure the quality of education of students, effectively organize the educational process, and improve the material and technical base. During the meeting, these problems were also resolved.
The agenda included a report on the action plan for holding the "Year of Workers' Professions" in the Turkestan region. The task was to implement projects that are beneficial to society, not for the sake of profit. The regional plan approved by the regional akim on December 6, 2024, included 60 measures. Currently, this plan is being supplemented. Work has begun to improve the system of training workers in the region.
It should be noted that 554,654 students are studying in 1,084 secondary educational institutions in the Turkestan region. On the instructions of the akim of the Turkestan region, work is being carried out to regulate, restore and modernize dilapidated educational institutions.
