01.02.2025 20:45:51 374On January 29 of this year, a seminar on "Regulating methane emissions in Kazakhstan" was held, organized by the Clean Air Task Force (CATF) and the International Energy Agency (IEA).
Event. Senior representatives of the Presidential Administration, the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources, the Ministry of Energy, as well as leading representatives of the oil and gas business, participated.
The main focus of the seminar was on issues in the oil and gas sector. Regulation of methane emissions in the oil and gas sector, including the development of a regulatory framework, monitoring emissions, the introduction of advanced technologies for detecting leaks and methods for their reduction.
In his welcoming speech, the Deputy Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Mansur Oshurbbayev, noted that Kazakhstan, having joined the global commitment to methane, feels its responsibility in the fight against climate change and is actively cooperating with international partners to reduce methane emissions.
The seminar discussed international best practices, as well as prospects. regulation for cooperation in the field of implementing effective mechanisms with international organizations and the business community.
The seminar was an important platform for exchanging experiences and discussing the main challenges facing Kazakhstan in the field of reducing methane emissions, as well as identifying further steps to improve environmental policy in the country.
