Agricultural industry, trade facilities and new factories: what work is underway to develop industries in Astana

There are more than 30 enterprises producing socially significant food products in the capital. By 2027, 7 investment projects will be implemented in the agro-industrial complex. This was announced by the head of the Astana city Department of Investments and Entrepreneurship Development, Khalel Akimzhanov, the official website of the city akimat reports.
Today, more than 30 enterprises producing 3 types of socially significant food products operate in the city's agro-industrial complex. Among them are 6 flour milling plants, 28 bakeries and one pasta production enterprise.
"In 2024, more than 159 thousand tons of food products were produced in the capital. "This includes 124.6 thousand tons of flour, 15.5 thousand tons of bread and 19.3 thousand tons of pasta," said Khalel Akimzhanov.
As part of the Roadmap for the agro-industrial complex for 2025-2027, 7 investment projects are being implemented in the capital, creating about 1.7 thousand new jobs.
These include factories for the production of finished and semi-finished products, a milk processing plant, a vegetable storage facility, and a grain processing plant.
In 2023, 2 vegetable storage facilities with a capacity of 13 thousand tons were put into operation in Astana.
In 2026, another vegetable storage facility, mentioned above, will be put into operation among the investment projects in the capital. In total, 8 vegetable storage facilities are currently operating in Astana, storing 47.5 thousand tons of products.
Special attention is being paid to the transition of trade markets to a new format in Astana. Thus, in 2024, the "Koktal" market (Tilendiev Avenue, 12) was put into operation in the capital.
In addition, within the framework of the Road Map, it is planned to modernize 7 trade markets in the capital. The modernization of the markets includes the renovation of trade premises, the construction of new warehouse complexes and the improvement of transport infrastructure.
"This will allow creating more than 1,000 jobs and significantly improving trading conditions for more than 6,000 entrepreneurs. The markets will be equipped with modern cash control systems, and the conditions for storing goods will be improved," the head of the city administration said.
