On January 30-31, 2025, a seminar dedicated to the Glaciers to Farms (G2F) program implemented by the Asian Development Bank with the support of the Green Climate Fund is being held in Astana.
The program covers issues of integrated water resources management, sustainable irrigation methods and the introduction of innovative technologies in agriculture.
The seminar was a key event that brought together representatives of Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Georgia, Pakistan and international organizations to discuss issues of protecting farmers at the regional level, ensuring a reliable basis for sustainable water supply and food security.
E. Nysanbayev stressed the importance of holding regional meetings within the framework of the seminar, which, through interaction with international organizations and participating countries, will serve as a basis for the path to the Regional Climate Summit under the auspices of the UN in 2026. The Minister also noted the crucial role of the Central Asian Regional Glaciological Center under the auspices of UNESCO in monitoring glaciers and developing adaptation strategies.
