Volunteers from the capital held an event on the streets of the city, distributing leaflets to passers-by about the dangers of gambling addiction and available help, the official website of the Astana akimat reports.
Volunteers from "Astana Zhastary" held the event at the busy "Astanalyk" market. The goal is to inform residents of the capital about the problems of gambling addiction, its consequences and available ways to get help.
Passers-by were handed out leaflets with information about the symptoms of gambling addiction.
The types of pathological gambling addiction and its main symptoms are discussed. Recommendations are given for the prevention of gambling addiction. The leaflet notes that the largest number of gambling addicts are between the ages of 18 and 30.
One of the most important sections informs about the possibility of getting help for gambling addiction. Residents of Astana are advised to contact the city mental health center or the website of the Republican Scientific and Practical Center for Mental Health mentalcenter.kz.
According to the organizers, the event is aimed at informing the public, creating a society that knows where to get help and how to get rid of addiction.
“Today we distributed information brochures in crowded places. During the campaign, volunteers distributed 500 booklets about gambling addiction, its consequences and available ways to get help. This year we held our first campaign to combat gambling addiction, and we have previously held similar campaigns within the framework of the “Bright Future” project, - says Olzhas Amangeldy, a specialist in “Astana Zhastary”.
