Regional akim Marat Akhmetzhanov met with the head of the Orthodox Church in the Republic of Kazakhstan, Metropolitan of Astana and Kazakhstan Alexander

During the meeting, Marat Akhmetzhanov expressed his condolences to Metropolitan Alexander on the tragic death of Archbishop Serapion, who headed the Kokshetau and Akmola diocese.
“Vladyka Serapion made a great contribution to strengthening interfaith harmony in our region. Having served in the diocese for more than 10 years, he earned the respect and trust of not only parishioners and clergy, but also residents of the region and leaders of other faiths,” the regional akim noted.
In turn, the head of the Orthodox Church in the Republic of Kazakhstan thanked the regional akim for his support and sympathy in difficult times. Metropolitan Alexander noted that Archbishop Serapion was an outstanding spiritual mentor who devoted his life to serving people and strengthening the spiritual foundations of society.
In addition, during the meeting, the parties discussed issues of interfaith harmony, spiritual and moral education of youth, and joint social initiatives aimed at the benefit of the region.
