A regular meeting of the Interdepartmental State Commission for the Prevention and Elimination of Emergency Situations was held at the Ministry of Emergency Situations under the chairmanship of Vice Minister of Emergency Situations Kegen Tursynbayev.
The meeting was held in a videoconference format with the participation of representatives of central state bodies, deputy akims of regions, Astana, Almaty and Shymkent cities, as well as heads of territorial Emergency Situations Departments, heads and officials of the Ministry of Emergency Situations.
During the meeting, the issues of the readiness of central and local executive bodies for the flood-prone period, the condition of supporting hydraulic structures and measures taken for their safe use, and the introduction of an urgent mass notification system (MassAlert) for the population via mobile devices throughout the republic were discussed.
The Vice Ministers of Ecology and Natural Resources, Water Resources and Irrigation, Emergency Situations, Digital Development, Innovations and Aerospace Industry spoke on these issues. The deputy akims of a number of regions of the country were also heard.
"It is necessary to keep special control over the issues of ensuring the safety of hydrotechnical structures and the preparedness of the regions for floods. It is also necessary to ensure the implementation of a set of organizational and practical measures aimed at the full functioning of the MassAlert system in all regions of the country not only during earthquakes, but also during the threat or occurrence of all large-scale emergencies," concluded Vice Minister Kegen Tursynbayev.
Following the results of the meeting, Vice Minister Kegen Tursynbayev instructed the interested state bodies and organizations to take measures to implement the proposed measures aimed at increasing the safety of the population and the preparedness of state bodies to prevent and eliminate flood phenomena.
