Astana, January 30, 2025 – A regular meeting of the Public Council was held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan under the chairmanship of Aigul Kuspan, Chairperson of the Committee on International Affairs, Defense and Security of the Mazhilis of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
In accordance with the approved agenda, the meeting heard a report by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Alibek Bakayev on the work of the Ministry in 2024. He noted that the main task of the department is to promote foreign policy and foreign economic priorities and protect the national interests of Kazakhstan on the world stage.
A. Bakayev paid special attention to economic diplomacy and state policy on attracting investments. Last year, Kazakhstan attracted direct investments in the amount of 15.7 billion US dollars. Our country accounts for 63 percent of all attracted investments in Central Asia.
Active work continues to improve the status of the Kazakhstani passport, and our country took 51st place in the "Global Passport Power Rank 2025" rating, the Deputy Minister noted.
The event heard reports from members of the Public Council on the results of public monitoring of the work of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and its institutions abroad based on applications from citizens.
Azamat Aubekov, Director of the Department of Consular Services of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, made a report on this issue. He noted that the main task of the consular service is to protect the rights, freedoms and interests of Kazakhstanis abroad. 99.9% of about 100 thousand applications received by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan on consular issues were satisfied. In addition, as part of the implementation of the concept of "A State that Listens to the Voice of the People", 95 foreign institutions of our country have been connected to the "e-Otinish" system.
During the meeting, the Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan on Amendments and Additions to the Legislative Acts of the Republic of Kazakhstan on Diplomatic Service was also discussed. Reports on this issue were heard from the directors of the Legal Service and International Law Departments.
The meeting participants approved the Public Council's plan for 2025.
At the end of the meeting, public activists provided practical suggestions on various areas of the Ministry's work.
