The Presidents of Kazakhstan and Mongolia made a joint statement to the media following the talks.
The Head of our state expressed his sincere gratitude to Ukhnaagiin Khurelsukh for the invitation to pay a state visit to Ulaanbaatar and noted the special importance of the meetings held.
– Mongolia is our important neighbor in the region. We are connected by long-standing friendly relations, common history, spiritual and cultural values. It is of great symbolic importance for both peoples that our negotiations coincided with the 800th anniversary of the Jochi Ulus, which occupies a special place in the history of Kazakhstan. Kazakh-Mongolian relations have been developing dynamically in recent years. Today, cooperation based on strong friendship has grown into a strategic partnership. Mr. Khurelsukh and I signed a joint declaration on the establishment of a strategic partnership aimed at strengthening friendship between the two countries and giving a new impetus to the development of contacts in various fields," Kassym-Jomart Tokayev stressed.
The President said that agreements had been reached on deepening trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian cooperation.
– In general, there is every reason to believe that the negotiations that took place were very successful. We have agreed to intensify economic contacts. Kazakhstan and Mongolia are among the largest countries in Asia, therefore, mutual trade should acquire appropriate scales. Last year, the volume of trade reached $ 150 million. It is planned to increase this figure to $500 million in the foreseeable future. To do this, it is necessary to expand the range of goods and eliminate barriers to economic integration. The Governments of both countries have been instructed to take appropriate measures. Today we have signed a Roadmap for increasing trade and economic cooperation," the Head of State noted.
According to him, the delegations of the two countries discussed the prospects for joint activities in the fields of agriculture, industry, transport and logistics, and energy.
– Kazakhstan has the capacity to produce vaccines against diseases of farm animals. In this regard, we have agreed to establish vaccine production in Mongolia in the future. In addition, the possibilities of joint development of new technologies and mineral resources were considered. The topic of investments was also raised. I informed about Kazakhstan's achievements in the field of e-government, cybersecurity and space exploration. As you know, our countries have significant natural resources. We will work together on the exploration and development of deposits of iron, phosphates, bauxite and rare minerals. Businessmen of Kazakhstan are ready to explore the potential of Mongolia's mining industry. During the negotiations, issues of transport and logistics were discussed. One of the most important tasks is to increase the competitiveness of international corridors. To do this, it is necessary to improve transport links between our countries and with third countries. This will contribute to an increase in the volume of cargo transportation through the territory of our states. It is important to effectively use the Trans–Caspian route and the North–South corridor," the President believes.
At the first meeting of the Business Council held in Ulaanbaatar the day before, entrepreneurs signed large-scale commercial agreements and a number of other documents. The Governments of both countries will have to provide favorable conditions for joint ventures. Kassym-Jomart Tokayev also called for effective use of the potential of interregional relations
