Kazakhstan and Hungary agreed on joint projects in the oil supply and energy sectors

On February 17, 2025, a meeting of the Minister of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan Almasadam Satkaliyev and the Minister of Foreign Economic Relations and Foreign Affairs of Hungary Peter Szijjarto was held in Astana, during which the parties discussed the main areas of bilateral cooperation in the energy sector.
During the meeting, the ministers discussed the current state and development prospects of the energy sectors of the two countries. Particular attention was paid to the issues of cooperation in the oil and gas sector between KazMunayGas and MOL Group.
The parties noted the importance of the effective development of the Rozhkovskoye gas condensate field, in which both companies participate. The issues of supplying Kazakh oil to Hungary through the Druzhba pipeline were raised. An agreement was reached on trial deliveries until 2025.
The Kazakh side expressed interest in the experience of Hungarian partners in the production of dry cooling towers for nuclear power plants, in particular, for the MVM Group company.
“Kazakhstan highly values ​​​​the strategic partnership with Hungary. We see great potential for expanding cooperation in the energy sector, both in the oil and gas sector and in the peaceful use of nuclear energy. I am confident that joint work will contribute to the sustainable development of the energy systems of our countries and strengthen energy security,” said Almasadam Satkaliyev, Minister of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
At the end of the meeting, the parties expressed their readiness to further develop mutually beneficial relations in the energy sector and outlined plans for the implementation of the agreements reached.
