A meeting was held at the Turkestan regional akimat to discuss the issue of introducing changes and additions to the General Plan of the city of Turkestan. At the meeting, the draft General Plan was presented to the regional head and the city architecture council.
The project includes a development plan for the city until 2040. Priority is given to improving the city's infrastructure, developing the tourism industry, preserving historical sites and monuments. At the same time, the development of each sector of the city, providing it with social facilities, gradually increasing the capacity of heating and water systems in accordance with the population, optimizing the city's roads, and other issues are included. It is expected that the number of residents of the city of Turkestan will reach 400 thousand in 2040, and the General Plan of the city has been supplemented accordingly.
The regional head instructed to study and supplement the General Plan. He noted that it is important to consult with industry leaders and discuss them in detail, and to improve the proposals.
- A draft law on granting special status to the city of Turkestan has been developed at the initiative of the Head of State. It should be taken into account. Secondly, keep in mind that Turkestan is the center not only of the region, but also of the Turkic world. The master plan and the design code of the city should meet modern requirements and be of such high quality that it can be raised to the level of a large agglomeration. Review and make specific proposals, - said Nuralkhan Kusherov.
At the meeting, where architectural projects were discussed, the issues of developing a design code for districts and city centers in the region, improving the architecture of settlements, and regulating the "Birkolik" recreational zone were also raised. A report was heard on this by Nurlyzhan Bukebayev, head of the Turkestan region's architecture and urban planning department. Relevant instructions were given to the heads responsible for the sector. The proposals will be studied and revised.
