The Tasqyn flood forecasting and modeling system was put into production in our country. Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation Nurzhan Nurzhigitov held a staff meeting on flood season preparation.
Today, flood modeling is being conducted at 142 water stations in 128 sections of rivers. 114 specialists from Kazsuchar branches and basin inspections conduct daily analysis of data from water stations and enter it into the system.
The Tasqyn system is integrated into the global GloFAS flood warning system. Tasqyn will provide the latest forecast for the 2025 flood season in early March.
“In addition to domestic flood preparations, we are in constant contact with our colleagues in neighboring countries. Information exchange is ongoing. Water release is ongoing to prepare free space in reservoirs to receive spring floods. Today, the country's reservoirs can hold 13 billion cubic meters of water," said Nurzhan Nurzhigitov, Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation.
