115 SCHOOLS TO BE RENOVATED IN TURKESTAN REGION

In the Turkestan region, comprehensive support is being provided to the education sector and conditions are being created to improve the quality of education. At the same time, 115 schools from the Turkestan region are included in the school modernization project. It was determined that in 2025-2027, 64.3 billion tenge will be needed to carry out major and current repairs to the buildings of 115 schools and equip them with a canteen, library, gym, classrooms, security systems, subject rooms, and furniture.
Today, the regional akimat discussed the work and plans to be carried out within the framework of the school modernization project. Akim of the Turkestan region Nuralkhan Kusherov instructed to use the budget economically and effectively, and to carry out construction work in a high-quality and timely manner.
- Review the construction projects for the major renovation of schools. Let the responsible departments issue a report and provide accurate information. It is necessary to save every penny of the budget. Support will be provided to specific, necessary projects. The implementation of the school modernization project will be monitored, - said Nuralkhan Kusherov.
In his Address to the People of Kazakhstan on September 2, 2024, Head of State Kassym-Jomart Tokayev gave an instruction to modernize (renovate) 1,300 schools across the republic. 115 schools from the Turkestan region are included in this project.
The amount of funds required for the total renovation is planned to be allocated from the regional budget in 2025. And for the renovation of 74 schools that are to be modernized in 2026 and 2027, the sectoral ministry is working out ways to allocate an estimated 42.9 billion tenge from the republican budget.
Out of the 41 schools planned for 2025, 15 schools will be covered by current renovation, while 26 schools will undergo major renovation. In 2025, 6 of the 26 schools that require major repairs (transferred from 2024) have been fully funded from the regional budget. And 3 schools are planned to be implemented under the "Village - Cradle of the Nation" program.
It should be noted that in the Turkestan region, 554,753 students are studying in 1,087 secondary educational institutions. Of these, 503,665 students study in 920 state schools, and 51,088 students study in 167 private schools.
