More than 169 thousand Kazakhstanis received targeted social assistance by February 1 of this year

As of February 1, 2025, 169.1 thousand people from 31.9 thousand families were assigned targeted social assistance (TSA) in the amount of 2.3 billion tenge.
As previously reported, the main goal of TSA is to provide support in the form of cash payments and help families get out of difficult life situations by involving able-bodied family members in active measures to promote employment.
TSA provides for the following:
- quarterly provision of social assistance to citizens whose income does not exceed the poverty line;
- each child aged 1 to 6 years in low-income families Monthly additional payment in the amount of 1.5 MCI. On February 1, 2025, an additional payment of 305.1 million tenge was assigned to 52 thousand preschool children from among the recipients of the social assistance;
- assistance in employment through employment placement, providing grants to families intending to start their own business, sending them to advanced training courses (if necessary), and others.
Currently, Kazakhstanis can submit an application for the appointment of social assistance at the career center at their place of residence, to the akim of the rural district, as well as through the Electronic Government Portal (egov.kz).
From January 1, 2025, the poverty line in Kazakhstan has been set at 35% of the regional median income, but not lower than 70% of the regional minimum subsistence level.
