. The hero of today's column is Viktor Ryzhkov, a 10th grade student at the Alexander School in the Kostanay District.

Under the guidance of his teacher Vitaly Bazarkin, the young inventor created an innovative system called "Smart Bridge", which prevents bridges from collapsing during a sharp rise in water level. This idea came to Viktor after the spring flood of 2024.

The automated system prevents a critical rise in water level: sensors first register the danger, and the programmed Arduino microcontroller immediately activates the bridge lifting mechanism, protecting it from collapse even with a strong current.

"My goal is to create a system that will help people and infrastructure be prepared for floods. "During the development of the project, the choice of the lifting mechanism was a challenge, but we managed to successfully implement it," says Vitaly Bazarkin.

In the future, Victor plans to improve the model by adding a bridge lifting function and radio integration that will automatically send a message to emergency services, which will allow for a prompt response to the alarm.

The project has already been highly appreciated and won first place in the "Technical construction in the industrial sector" nomination at the Republican competition of innovative ideas "The first step to a great invention."
