Reservoirs in the southern regions of Kazakhstan are 55% full. This is a 23% increase compared to the same period last year. Currently, reservoirs in the south of the country are operating in the mode of water accumulation for the next irrigation season.

At the same time, water is discharged from reservoirs in the northern, western and eastern regions. This is done in order to provide free volumes for receiving meltwater during the spring flood.

As of today, reservoirs in the north are 79% full. The average volume of water accumulation in reservoirs in the western regions is 44%. Reservoirs in the east are 89% full, and in the central part of the country the filling level is 85%.

"Today, all reservoirs are operating according to the established schedule. However, the work schedule will be adjusted depending on flood forecasts. To prepare for the flood season, the ministry has sent recommendations to all regions on cleaning riverbeds using specialized equipment such as dredgers," said Moldir Abdualieva, an official representative of the Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation.
