Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation Nurzhan Nurzhigitov held an offline meeting of the Public Council of the Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation. It includes members of Parliament, ministry specialists, experts, as well as representatives of research institutes, higher educational institutions and public organizations.
The event began with the presentation of departmental awards "Su sharuashylygyn ardageri" and "Su sharuashylygyn uzdigi" to the participants of the meeting.
Nurzhan Nurzhigitov made a report in which he spoke about the work done by the ministry during the year, and also answered questions from the participants of the meeting. Issues such as flood preparedness, flood forecasting, training of technical specialists, the development of hydrogeology, the definition of water protection zones and the fight against the "black market" of water were raised at the meeting.
Since its establishment, the public Council has given an expert assessment to 13 draft normative legal acts developed by the Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation.
"We are faced with the task of transforming the entire water industry in Kazakhstan, including the creation of a new regulatory framework, restoration and construction of infrastructure, as well as cross-border cooperation. I am sure that the public council will be able to play an important role in this work. I thank everyone for their openness and activity, honest opinions and expert suggestions," said Nurzhan Nurzhigitov, Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation.
