In Almaty, work on the reconstruction and modernization of schools with seismic reinforcement will continue next year. The relevant draft budget for 2025-2027 is planned to be considered at the upcoming session of the Maslikhat of Almaty. This was reported by the press service of the city Maslikhat.
According to the draft budget for the next three years, almost 250 billion tenge is planned to be allocated for the maintenance of 216 schools, 12 boarding schools, 20 colleges with a total coverage of 344 thousand students.
Reconstruction and modernization of schools with seismic reinforcement is one of the main priorities of the city akimat. With the adoption of the new three-year budget, the modernization of educational institutions in the metropolis will continue in compliance with high quality standards.
Thus, as part of the fulfillment of the instructions of the Head of State to ensure seismic safety, seismic reinforcement of 3 schools will be completed in 2025, work will begin on seismic reinforcement of lyceum school No. 50, seven nursery gardens in Auezovsky, Bostandyk and Medeu districts. In addition, the construction of 2 schools (Zerdeli and Shugila districts) and the reconstruction of 12 schools will be completed next year. In 2023-2024, major repairs with seismic reinforcement were completed in 11 schools of the city.
Along with this, 14 schools for 24.2 thousand places will be introduced in the megalopolis next year as part of the national project "Comfortable School". By the next academic year, the shortage of student places will decrease to a "manageable" level – 3-4 thousand places.
Thanks to the measures taken in Almaty, the gradual transition of schools to single-shift education continues. By the next academic year, 43 schools out of more than 200 public schools will switch to single-shift education (an increase from 12.5% to 18.4%).
Much attention is paid to the modernization and development of the infrastructure of urban schools. This year, 168 classrooms of a new modification were purchased for them in 89 schools. This allowed 86.3% of schools to be equipped with modern classrooms.
At the same time, in 2025, it is planned to allocate funds for the continuation of the construction and reconstruction of 5 kindergartens in the MKR. Orbita-3, Altyn-Besik, Kuramys, Shugyla and mkr. No. 10. This will also be done as part of the implementation of the instruction of the Head of State – to cover 97% of children aged 3 to 6 years with preschool education by 2025.
It is also planned to build 3 kindergartens in the MKR next year. Karagaily, Darkhan and Nurkent. Thus, after the completion of construction works, access to preschool institutions for 2,280 children will be provided, which will significantly improve the quality of education and early development in the metropolis.
