Vice Minister of Agriculture Yermek Kenzhehanuly met with Stanlake Samkange, Director of the Multilateral and Programmatic Country Partnership of the United Nations World Food Program.
During the meeting, issues of cooperation with the international humanitarian organization were discussed.
"Compliance with agricultural technologies, as well as favorable weather conditions, made it possible to harvest 26.6 million tons of grain crops. This is a record harvest in the last 10 years. Increasing yields and productivity helps to reduce costs and production costs, which allows us to offer a competitive price for grain on the world market. Under such conditions, Kazakhstan has great potential and is ready to become a global supplier of food. In this regard, I think we have many points of contact with the UN WFP," Yermek Kenzhehanuly stressed.
The Vice Minister noted that the work on increasing the supply companies of both food and non-food products for WFP continues. Over the past years, more than 10 companies in Kazakhstan have successfully cooperated with the organization in the supply of their products for humanitarian needs.
Following the meeting, Yermek Kenzhehanuly suggested that WFP organize trainings for Kazakhstani companies on learning the rules of participation in WFP tenders.
The parties agreed to continue further cooperation.
