Akim of the region Abai Nurlan Urankhayev, together with deputies and heads of Departments of Education, Physical Culture and Sports, visited the building of the former Zaman college. The facility has great potential for the development of education, innovation and sports, but currently requires major repairs.
The building, which houses the regional Department of Physical Culture and Sports, houses three buildings built in 1972, 1983 and 1985.
Special attention should be paid to the fact that since 2022, the KSU "Medical and Physical Education Dispensary" has been operating here. The company is a specialized medical and preventive institution designed to provide medical supervision over persons engaged in physical education and sports. There are also opportunities for athletes to undergo rehabilitation. At the moment, athletes from 19 sports schools in the region are under the supervision of the dispensary.
After examining the building, the head of the region stressed the need to use the facility for the development of sports, science and technology in the region.
"It is obvious that the building has not been repaired for many years. If the necessary work is carried out, it will be able to serve people for many more years. We can upgrade the gym and create conditions for our children to play sports. And it is possible to open a modern industrial technopark on the basis of the former production workshop. By combining the efforts of several educational institutions of the city, it is possible to form a center for creative and advanced ideas," the governor of the region noted.
The Mayor instructed the deputies and heads of departments to prepare design and estimate documentation for the modernization of the building.
