As part of the campaign to combat Internet and telephone fraud, a meeting was held between residents of the Promyshlenny settlement of the capital and the chairman of the Public Foundation "Financial Culture of Kazakhstan", the official website of the Astana akimat reports.
"We must always remember that technology is developing rapidly and our data is becoming more accessible. For example, fraudsters may organize a lottery that requires personal information to register. No one is immune from such tricks, so it is important to constantly inform and conduct explanatory work so that citizens do not fall for the lure of fraudsters. The more attention we pay to this issue, the higher the financial and legal literacy of Kazakhstanis will be," noted the founder of the foundation, Yuri Li.
During the meeting, the participants were told about various fraudulent schemes, tricks used by cybercriminals, and ways to protect themselves from them.
"I believe that such meetings should be held as often as possible. "When we, the elderly, receive our pensions, we start receiving calls from various numbers offering dubious services, from purchasing goods to participating in the lottery to falsely protecting bank accounts. Recently, someone called me and said that my SIM card had expired and that I needed to renew it urgently via SMS, but I immediately recognized the scammer. We need to discuss such topics more often to increase the level of security," said Nagima Zhumaliqizy, a participant in the meeting.
The meeting was held with the support of the Sarayshyk district akimat in the capital.
