Today, a press conference was held at the Kazakhstan Press Club on the topic “Should old elevators be dismantled or should people's lives be endangered?” The discussion was attended by representatives of the Committee for Construction and Housing and Communal Services of the Ministry of Public Works of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the National Association of Elevator Workers of Kazakhstan, and experts in the elevator industry.
During the event, the main requirements of housing legislation and budget programs regarding the replacement of old elevators were explained. Particular attention was paid to the amendments to the Technical Regulation of the Customs Union TR CU 011/2011 “Elevator Safety”, adopted by the Council of the Eurasian Economic Commission in November 2023.
According to the updated requirements, all elevators that have reached the end of their service life must be brought into line with new safety standards. In the Republic of Kazakhstan, this deadline is set until February 15, 2025, while in Armenia, Belarus, Kyrgyzstan and the Russian Federation it has been extended until February 15, 2030.
The press conference became a platform for open dialogue between government agencies, elevator industry specialists and the public. The participants noted the importance of timely modernization of elevator equipment, noting that this measure will prevent emergencies and increase the safety and comfort of citizens.
The discussion on the issue of modernization of elevator equipment confirmed the need for urgent action by the state, professional associations and management companies. The measures taken are aimed at creating a safe and reliable elevator infrastructure, which will ultimately ensure the comfort and protection of citizens. Timely replacement and modernization of elevators will be an important step towards increasing the safety and modernity of the country's housing stock.
