A lecture on the harm of tobacco products, drug addiction and vandalism was held at secondary school No. 103 in Astana, organized by the Yesil District Prosecutor's Office and the Department for Combating Drug Trafficking, for schoolchildren, the official website of the capital's akimat reported.

According to Dinmukhammed Zatybekov, prosecutor of the Yesil District Prosecutor's Office, it is very important to tell young people about the consequences of the drug trade today.

“The number of drug addicts in our country is increasing every year. According to official data, their number exceeds 18 thousand. And the real figure may be much higher. Therefore, it is very important to discuss this issue among young people now. For example, in today's lecture, we are offering students several videos about the drug trade. They show the current lives of people who have embarked on this path. "Examples from ordinary life explain the consequences of the drug business to schoolchildren," says Dinmuhammed Zatybekov.

According to the senior operational representative of the Drug Abuse Control Department of the Astana City Police Department, police lieutenant colonel Leyla Razimova, the number of drug crimes committed against minors and minors in the city has increased.

"Today, authorized state bodies are jointly implementing comprehensive measures to prevent drug crimes. For example, in the 12 months of 2024 and January 2025, 1,238 drug offenses were registered in the capital. More than 358 kilograms of drugs, including 41 kilograms of synthetics, were confiscated from illegal circulation. "As a result of the analysis conducted in the operational situation for 12 months of 2024 and January 2025, it is noted that the number of drug crimes committed against minors and their perpetrators has increased," says Leyla Razimova. The operational representative said that 35 criminal cases have been initiated on the fact of drug propaganda. "Recently, criminals have been inventing various ways and methods of transporting and selling drugs and hiding them. For example, 35 criminal cases have been initiated on the facts of drug propaganda. This is punishable by imprisonment for a term of 3 to 6 years. In 2024, 2,747 graffiti were removed and 268 drug-advertising websites were blocked,” says Leyla Razimova.
