The traditional "Burkasyn-2025" winter festival was organized in Astana along the Yesil River, the official website of the capital's akimat reported.

The famous event did not take place in 2024 due to a sharp change in weather conditions. Now this year the mass event is being resumed. In general, the "Burkasyn" holiday has been held since 2000. Initially, 5 sports were included, but now their number is increasing, and from year to year the sports tradition is becoming a part of the capital's winter season.

The opening ceremony was attended by Deputy Akim of Astana, Erik Meirkhanov, and Head of the City Department of Physical Culture and Sports, Vasily Levit.

“This event has become an integral part of our Astana for 24 years, occupying a special place in the promotion of a healthy lifestyle and the development of winter sports. I wish all participants good luck! Let's share the joy of winter sports together, and may the "Burkasyn" festival give us all bright emotions!” - said Deputy Akim of Astana, Erik Meirkhanov.

About 1,000 participants registered for the Winter Sports Festival.

During the festival, participants competed in 9 sports. They are: cross-country skiing, weightlifting, arm wrestling, belt wrestling, tug-of-war, ice hockey, auto racing, motorsports and winter football.
