Today, the regional governor Nurlybek Nalibayev met with the director of the Korean company “With you E&C Kyzylorda” Hwang Sonsing. The meeting discussed the implementation of a joint project aimed at recycling household solid waste.
The head of the region noted that this project is an important step in solving the environmental problems of the region.
“Kazakhstan and Korea are strategic partners who have established open and trusting relations for many years. Our companies, with their honest work, make a significant contribution to the cultural-spiritual, agrarian and socio-economic development of the region.
As you know, on June 12, 2024, within the framework of the Kazakhstan-Korea business forum held in Astana, a memorandum was signed on the implementation of the project “Construction of a plant for the utilization, sorting and recycling of household solid waste in the city of Kyzylorda”. In accordance with the instructions of the Head of State Kassym-Jomart Kemelovich to build plants for the recycling of household solid waste in large cities, it is planned to implement 9 projects worth 81 million US dollars in the region over the next two years. When these projects are launched, all districts of the region and the city of Kyzylorda will be fully covered with processing plants.
The main goal of today's meeting is to finalize the implementation of a joint project aimed at the recycling of household solid waste in the Kyzylorda region. The akimat fully supported the project within the framework of current legislation. "A 4-hectare land plot was allocated near the city of Kyzylorda," said Nurlybek Mashbekuly.
It should be noted that in 2023, at the official invitation of the Consulate General of the Republic of Korea in Kazakhstan, a delegation led by the head of the region visited the Republic of Korea, where bilateral meetings and events were organized. As a result of the meeting with the president of the Seoul National University of Science and Technology, effective contacts were established in the field of education and science. In November 2023, the "School of Artificial Intelligence" was opened at Korkyt Ata University. It trains highly qualified personnel in the fields of artificial intelligence, cybersecurity and computer science.
There are 15 companies operating in the region that process, collect and sort household solid waste. Of the 303 thousand tons of household solid waste collected last year, 91.2 thousand tons, or 30.1 percent, were processed.
