A branch of South Korea's Woosong University is planned to open in Turkestan this year. On this occasion, a presentation of the Kazakh-Korean International Educational Center was held in the Congress Hall multi-disciplinary complex. The meeting was attended by Deputy Governor of Turkestan region Beisenbai Tazhibayev, representatives of Woosong University, teachers, parents and future graduates.
The Deputy Governor of the region, who made a foreword at the meeting, noted that young people have a great opportunity to receive quality international education and called on graduates to use this opportunity effectively.

The opening of this university is clear evidence of the rise of the education sector in our region to a new level. Here, not only high-level academic education will be offered, but also modern technologies and practical teaching methods from South Korea. Great opportunities are opening up before you. The issue of allocating grants to this university by the Ministry and the Turkestan regional akimat is already being planned, and the necessary measures are being taken. We, the regional leadership, are ready to create all conditions for our young people to receive high-quality education and comprehensively develop themselves. At the meeting, representatives of Woosong University, led by Shim Hye-jae, Dean of the Department of International Affairs of South Korea, focused on the world-class position of Korea and introduced the university's life. They answered the participants' questions and informed about the opportunities provided by the educational institution.
A number of works are being carried out in the region within the framework of the instruction of President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev to open branches of well-known universities in the country. Since the city of Turkestan became the "regional center", the International University of Tourism and Hospitality has been opened.
In order to train personnel in the field of information technology, negotiations are underway with representatives of the South Korean "Wusong" educational foundation on the opening of an IT university in Turkestan, and today the building is undergoing major renovation work in the Administrative and Business Center. This university will be a new center where education and science, culture and experience intersect. Students will not only receive world-class education, but also have the opportunity to undergo international practice and become specialists in demand in the labor market. In addition, the "double diploma" program provides for the possibility of continuing their education in Korea and finding a job in that country.
This initiative is being implemented with the direct participation of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Representatives of the international university will soon meet with the Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan Nurbek Sayasat and finalize preparations.
4 faculties will be opened at the international university. It is planned that 2,340 students will study there in the specialties of "Artificial Intelligence and Big Data Analysis", "Software", "The Fourth World IT Industrial Revolution", "Multimedia and Web Design". The opening of the university is planned for the fall of 2025.
It should be noted that more than 553 thousand students study in 1,088 schools in the Turkestan region. This year, the number of graduates in the region will exceed 33 thousand. About 23 thousand of them intend to enter higher education institutions. Last year, taking into account the needs of the labor market, grants were allocated by the Turkestan regional akimat. As a result, 107 students in 12 specialties are studying on a grant basis at the K.A. Yassawi International Kazakh-Turkish University.
