Kazakhstan plans to increase the share of local content in subsoil users' purchases to 62% by 2025

Kazakhstan has 345 contracts in the field of subsoil use. According to the results of auctions held in 2024, 14 subsoil plots with a total investment of $72.5 million in geological exploration were sold. In 2024, the share of Kazakhstani content in subsoil users' purchases amounted to 61.9% (3.8 trillion tenge).
As reported by the Minister of Energy Almasadam Satkaliyev, it is planned to increase the share of Kazakhstani content in subsoil users' purchases to 62% in 2025, as well as to isolate 10 new production facilities in the oil and gas sector, hold at least two electronic auctions, and make amendments to the Subsoil Code.
Contracts are being reviewed: 2022-2024 52 contracts were terminated for 14 billion tenge, 141 notifications of violations were sent for 14 billion tenge, and approximately 11.3 billion tenge were reimbursed.
