In the city of Balkhash, Karaganda region, local authorities are trying to create conditions to increase the flow of tourists. Last year, three new recreation areas appeared, and this year six more may be added.

This was announced by Balkhash akim Sapar Satayev at a briefing at the Regional Communications Service.

According to him, last year the number of vacationers in the Balkhash resort area increased by almost 30% and amounted to 121 thousand people. 99 facilities received tourists.

— Last year, three recreation areas were put into operation. This year, it is planned to launch six tourism facilities with a total investment of 2.4 billion tenge, — said Sapar Satayev.

The construction of water supply networks will begin in the resort villages of Torangalyk and Shubartubek. Recreation areas will be supplied with central water.

In addition, the reconstruction of the beach and the city embankment should be completed this year.

The reconstruction of the Balkhash airport continues. Currently, the construction of a special transport service building and the reconstruction of the airport terminal are underway. The reconstruction work is scheduled to be completed this year.

The BalkhashTourfest festival has become a tradition. Last year, more than 30 thousand people gathered there. This year, it is expected to be even more.

— The main goal of the festival is to form and promote the brand of Balkhash as a tourist center, — the city mayor noted.
