After a short break, the Ten Qogam Center for Social Adaptation of People with Disabilities began to provide services. The social order was again received by the Qamqor Plus Public Association of People with Disabilities. This means that people with disabilities will continue to receive the necessary assistance free of charge for the next three years.
The main goal of the center is to provide information and resource support to people with disabilities over the age of 18 living in Karaganda. For three years, the center has been actively working to create conditions for the integration of people with disabilities into society and the labor environment. The work is carried out in several areas: employment of people with disabilities, social and psychological support, legal assistance.
“The center works on the principle of a single window,” explained the head of the center, Niyaz Sundetaliev. “A person with disabilities who comes here with their problem can make a decision. We interact directly with the Department and Administration of Employment Coordination, city and regional akimats, and the Center for Labor Mobility.
The idea of ​​creating a single space where people with disabilities can receive assistance in various aspects of life arose from the desire to make life easier for people with disabilities. Being one of them, Niyaz Sundetaliev felt how inaccessible the “accessible” environment is for people with disabilities.
According to specialists from the city’s Department of Employment and Social Programs, a public association where people with disabilities work can quickly connect with those who come to ask for help.
– This project is a bridge to unite the demands of state bodies and people with disabilities and quickly solve problems, – believes Bakhytnur Talipova, Deputy Head of the Karaganda Department of Employment and Social Programs. – I think that in the future this project will show even better results.
One of the components of the center’s work is psychological assistance and support. A psychologist conducts individual meetings with participants to help them identify their strengths, develop a career plan, and overcome internal obstacles related to finding a job or adapting to a new workplace.
On the opening day, a psychological training was held for those who came to the center for consultation.
– The main thing for us is communication. Many are locked up in four walls and do not leave their homes, - says Meruert Smagulova, a disabled person from Karaganda. - Before my disability, I lived and worked as usual. Now I want to work, so I came here to ask for help.
Following the example of Ten Qogam, similar centers will be created in other cities and districts of the Karaganda region.
