Unity and creativity: key initiatives dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the People's Republic of China

“Unity and solidarity remain our main value and the unshakable direction of state policy,” - President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.
Today, representatives of more than 124 ethnic groups live in peace and harmony in Kazakhstan. They are full-fledged citizens of the country and make a significant contribution to the development of the state. Strengthening Kazakhstani identity, preventing interethnic tensions and conflicts are the main priorities of state policy.
In 2024, the Ministry of Culture and Information of the Republic of Kazakhstan implemented a comprehensive set of measures aimed at strengthening interethnic harmony, preventing conflicts, developing ethnomediation, training specialists, and implementing state policy in the interethnic sphere.
One of them was a republican teleconference organized on March 1, dedicated to the Day of “Gratitude”. More than 1,000 people participated in it. As part of the event, the Republican campaign “Caravan of Charity” and the creative competition “Shanyrak” were held.
One of the most important events of the year was the XXXIII session of the Assembly of the People of Kazakhstan (APK) “Unity. Creativity. Progress” held on April 25. It was chaired by the Head of State. In addition, a half-marathon “Unity Run” was held on April 28. 15 thousand people from 15 regions participated in it.
In 2024, “Zhomart Zhan” public centers were established under the APK. They organized several volunteer and charity events. In particular, the “From Heart to Heart” and “Road to School” events were held. In total, last year, APK members provided assistance to needy citizens in the amount of 1.3 billion tenge.
“Zhomart Zhan” centers operate in 4 main areas.
1. Road to School is a charity event that helps prepare children from large and low-income families for school every year. In 2024, more than 6.5 thousand children were provided with necessary school equipment and clothing. In total, 260 million tenge was spent.
2. From Heart to Heart is a project aimed at supporting citizens during natural disasters and emergencies. Within the framework of the project, more than 1,700 tons of food, medicines and essential goods were delivered to the affected regions with the help of volunteers. The total amount of humanitarian aid was more than 805 million.
3. Mercy is a direction of supporting inclusive groups and socially vulnerable citizens. In 2024, 1,320 families and 483 citizens were provided with social assistance within the framework of the project.
4. Kamkor is charity projects aimed at developing sports and social infrastructure. In 2024, new sports grounds were created in the regions, centers for sports were opened, and schools were equipped with modern educational tools (for example, interactive boards, etc.).
In addition, last year, the ANC implemented 13 special public projects. 10 public structures of the ANC are actively working. Among them are the Council of Elders, the Council of Mothers, the Republican Public Association "Assembly Youth", the Journalists' Club, the Council of Scientific Experts, the "Generous Soul" centers, the Ethnomediation Council, the Association of Creative Collectives, the Student ANC, and the Young Scientists' Club.
The ANC has established close ties with more than a thousand ethnocultural associations.
35 Friendship Houses across the country serve as modern community centers for more than a thousand ethnocultural associations. In 2024, 2,757 events were organized in these centers, attended by about 300 thousand people.
In 2024, more than 15,000 socially significant events were held with the participation of the ANC structures, attended by 700 thousand people.
A special course entitled "Ethnopolitical Literacy" was introduced at the journalism faculties of four universities in the country.
One of the important directions in the field of interethnic relations is the development of ethnomediation as an effective mechanism for preventing conflicts. In 2024, 233 professional ethnomediators were trained at the republican, regional and local levels. In addition, 30 seminars and trainings were held, and 1,207 people were trained.
In order to objectively assess the state of interethnic relations, 2 sociological surveys were conducted, 10 monitoring visits were made to the regions, and appropriate recommendations were made to state bodies based on their results.
According to the results of the survey, 97.3% of the country's citizens assessed the interethnic situation as stable and favorable.
80 regional information and explanatory groups on interethnic issues held more than 3,000 events attended by more than 160,000 people. They took place in the form of conferences, meetings, seminars, consultations, round tables, and other formats.
The Ministry has established a permanent interdepartmental working group on the implementation of the International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination and the discussion of anti-discrimination legislation. Based on the results of the work, proposals were developed to improve the legislation in this area.
Systematic work to strengthen social harmony and interethnic interaction in Kazakhstan will continue in 2025. The XXXIV anniversary session of the National Assembly of the Republic of Kazakhstan will be held under the chairmanship of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, K.K. Tokayev. This will be one of the main events that will determine the priority areas in the development of national unity.
A plan for organizing more than 400 major events has been developed and approved as part of preparations for the 30th anniversary of the National Assembly of the Republic of Kazakhstan. In addition, the ANC Anthology and a jubilee medal will be published.
This year, special attention will be paid to information and explanatory work, increasing the effectiveness of state bodies and public structures in integrating ethnic groups into Kazakhstani society, as well as strengthening the role of civil society in ensuring interethnic stability.
To develop professionals in this field, more than 200 journalists will be trained within the ANC Journalists' Club, and the qualifications of more than 1,000 professional negotiators in the field of interethnic relations will be improved.
One of the main priorities for 2025 is the training of industry personnel. It is planned to increase the number of specialists trained in the specialties of "Ethnopolitics" and "Ethnojournalism".
In addition, work will be intensified to form the state language as a language of interethnic communication through the projects of the National Assembly of Kazakhstan, Friendship Houses, linguistic cabinets and other specialized structures.
These tasks will allow ensuring public harmony and national unity in the Republic of Kazakhstan based on Kazakhstani patriotism, civil unity and the spiritual and cultural integrity of the country's people.
