A large-scale city campaign “Almaty is our common home” will be held in Almaty from March 1 to April 1 within the framework of the “Clean Kazakhstan” republican program. This campaign is aimed at modernizing and improving the city’s infrastructure, increasing environmental culture, and attracting residents to the development of the city.
“Dear residents! “Almaty is our common home,” and every home should be clean and comfortable. I urge each of you not to leave garbage behind, to take care of nature, and to maintain cleanliness. Join our campaign! Let our city be an example for everyone! Thank you for your care and love for Almaty!” – said the Deputy Mayor of Almaty, Alisher Abdykadyrov.
The “Almaty is our common home” campaign covers all districts of the city. Every Almaty resident and guest of the city can participate in various events, such as challenges, competitions, eco-quests and flash mobs.
In addition, environmental campaigns will be held during the campaign. These include plogging, which combines running and garbage collection, the “Kind Cap” initiative to collect plastic caps among school and kindergarten students, the “Turn Waste into Art” competition aimed at creating works of art from waste, Plastic Reboot, which is aimed at recycling plastic bottles, collecting expired medicines and many other events.
“We are continuing the environmental initiatives launched last year and are striving to make our city even cleaner and more comfortable. In 2024, new development rules were approved in Almaty, and a system of development passports was introduced for more than 6,000 business entities. Currently, 4,918 passports have been issued, which is 82% of the plan. "Documentation will allow us to clarify responsibility for adjacent territories, including building facades, sidewalks, green areas and other facilities," said Deputy Mayor of Almaty Beibut Shakhanov.
The campaign is divided into four thematic weeks:
* "Clean Streets" (March 1–9) - cleaning of bus stops and road signs, installation of garbage bins, improvement of highways.
* "Clean Parks, Squares and Mountains" (March 10–16) - holding Sabbaths in natural areas and garbage collection activities.
* "Clean Yards" (March 17–23) - "Best Utility Worker" competition, painting of fences and landscaping elements, children's and sports grounds (March 20–29).
* "Our City is Our Pride" (March 24–April 1) - improvement of monuments and mass tree planting.
As part of the campaign, the city's infrastructure will be completely put in order, 4 thousand It is planned to clean up more than 12,000 yards, hold Sabbath cleaning in 445 parks and squares, clean river banks, install up to 12,000 anti-vandal garbage bins, demolish more than 600 illegally erected objects, and plant 5,000 trees and shrubs.
