The winners of the Asian Winter Games were awarded in Karaganda

Karaganda biathlete Vladislav Kireev won two medals at the Asian Winter Games in Harbin, China. He won the 10-kilometer sprint and became the champion in the individual event. He also won silver in the quartet. Karaganda resident Alexander Borisevich played in the Kazakhstan men's team that won the gold medal.
The champions of the Asian Games and their coaches were honored at the Karaganda regional akimat.
They were awarded with cash certificates.
On behalf of the head of the region and the people of Karaganda, the athletes were congratulated by Deputy Akim of the region Alibek Aldeney.
– You have once again proven that the Karaganda region has a strong sports tradition. Your achievements are not only a good image of the region, but also, first of all, an example for the younger generation and an incentive to engage in sports. We expect that you will continue to glorify our region and our country in the future, - noted Alibek Aldeney.
A native of Temirtau, a representative of the Karaganda region's school of higher sportsmanship, Vladislav Kireev has been involved in biathlon for 16 years.
He trains under the guidance of Rais Khairutdinov. Multiple prize-winner and winner of republican and international competitions. Participated in the XXIV Winter Olympic Games in Beijing in 2022.
– As a result of the draw, I was the last to perform in the individual competitions in Harbin. This was an advantageous position. When I reached the finish line, I began to congratulate myself. But my excitement lasted a long time. Only after I got on the podium did I begin to believe that I had won! Moreover, Kazakhstan won two medals that day, - shared Vladislav Kireev. - A ceremonial meeting was organized for us at the Astana airport. It is nice that they support us. I hope that further results will only increase.
The main goal is to participate in the 2026 Winter Olympics. Three stages of the Biathlon World Cup await us ahead - in the Czech Republic, Slovenia and Norway. The upcoming international competitions will begin on March 6.
Alexander Borisevich has gone through the entire system of hockey from Karaganda. He once defended the honor of the Kazakhstan youth team in various international tournaments. This is not the first time he has played for the national team and hopes to stay there for a long time.
- Our goal was to take first place at the Asian Winter Games, and we accomplished it. In the final, we had a tough game with the Japanese, but we won. Before that, we had defeated the tournament hosts, the Chinese national team. In May, the World Hockey Championship will be held in Sweden and Denmark. I hope to qualify for the national team, - said Alexander Borisevich.
