Today, the next field meeting of the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan entitled "Strong regional science - a strong region" was held. It was attended by the regional governor Serik Shapkenov, the president of the board of the academy Akylbek Kurishbayev, academicians and representatives of the petrochemical industry. The meeting discussed new areas of science development in the Atyrau region, - the press service of the regional akim reports.
At the meeting, Serik Shapkenov emphasized the importance of the Scientific and Technical Council, which, by involving scientists from universities, research organizations, industry and regional development institutes, develops scientific proposals, conducts an examination of initiated projects, and develops proposals for financing.
- The Council will work actively and systematically in direct contact with the National Academy of Sciences. For us, research is of great importance in the field of applied solutions in the field of information technologies and artificial intelligence, environmental research and systematic environmental monitoring, including the use of artificial intelligence in the efficient use of water and deep purification and regeneration of industrial wastewater, new materials and composites based on industrial polymers, methods for recycling and regeneration of plastic waste, and the use of oil-contaminated soils for road construction and building materials. These should be promoted and supported in the main state scientific directions developed by the academy, - said S. Shapkenov.
At the same time, the head of the region noted the priority of effectively using the regional scientific fund, training specialists necessary for production, and providing comprehensive support to their projects.
According to Akylbek Kurishbayev, the president of the board of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the economy of Atyrau region is favorable for various areas of scientific research.
- There are no budget programs for financing regional science in local budgets. In general, the amount of funds allocated for science from the local budget does not exceed 1% of the total expenditures on its development in the state. Atyrau region is one of the most important regions of our country in terms of natural resources and economic potential. In this regard, Atyrau region can serve as an example for other regions. In this regard, the National Academy of Sciences is ready to provide the necessary assistance. First of all, the Regional Council should establish close ties with the National Academy, and this will allow you to receive full methodological and practical assistance from the Academy on all issues of the council's activities. It should be noted that in accordance with the new system for determining the priority areas of science development developed by the National Academy of Sciences, research in the fields of agro-industrial complex, oil and mining and metallurgical industry, ensuring access to fresh water, improving the quality of life and developing human capital are considered strategic priorities and will be financed first, - said A. Kurishbayev.
The participants discussed the current issues of the development of regional science, its impact on the socio-economic development of the region and the country. A scientific and innovative exhibition was organized as part of the field meeting.
As a result of the field meeting of the Presidium of the Academy, a decision was made to establish the Science Support Fund under the Atyrau Oblast Akimat for the first time in the republic.
The event will be continued with a foresight session to determine the priority tasks of regional science. Promising scientific projects ready for commercialization will be presented in the format of the "Science-Business" pitch session. Participants will discuss opportunities for cooperation between the scientific community and business.
