As part of the implementation of the "Law and Order" ideology, the Aktobe region Prosecutor's office held an offsite meeting with the administration of the correctional institution and a meeting with convicts serving sentences for trafficking drugs and psychotropic substances.

During the meeting, First Deputy Prosecutor of the region Talgat Alibayev explained to the convicts the latest changes in criminal legislation concerning crimes related to the sale of narcotic and psychotropic substances.

These legal innovations are relevant and affect the interests of a large number of convicts, including for selling synthetic drugs.

The changes are aimed at delineating criminal liability for the sale, illegal acquisition, transportation, transfer and storage of narcotic drugs for the purpose of sale, as well as tougher penalties for illegal drug manufacturers.

Observing the principles of individualization of punishment and its proportionality to what has been done, the legislator lowered the thresholds for terms of imprisonment for persons who stored and distributed drugs, including for the so-called "pawnbrokers".

As a result, a number of crimes have moved from the category of particularly serious to the category of serious.

More than 100 convicts are serving their sentences in this colony, which are subject to new humanized norms that should be applied in the near future as part of the execution of sentences.

At the end of the meeting, the first Deputy prosecutor of the region held a personal reception for the convicts.
