Munich, April 3, 2025 – The visit of a representative Kazakh delegation led by the First Deputy Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Roman Sklyar to Germany continued with a visit to the capital of the Federal state of Bavaria.

During the visit, Roman Sklyar met with the Deputy Minister President and Minister of Economic affairs, Regional Development and Energy of Bavaria, Hubert Aiwanger, and the Bavarian State Minister for European and International Affairs, Erik Beißwenger.

At the meeting with Erik Beißwenger, which took place in the building of the Bavarian State government, the issues of development of cooperation between the governments of Kazakhstan and Bavaria were discussed.

For his part, Erik Beißwenger underlined Bavaria's keen interest in further developing comprehensive economic and humanitarian relations with Kazakhstan. He expressed Bavaria's readiness to support initiatives in this regard.

During the meeting with Hubert Aiwanger, the parties exchanged views on the state of trade and economic relations between Kazakhstan and Bavaria. They also discussed the prospects for their further development.

Hubert Aiwanger noted Kazakhstan's impressive development and progress in diversifying its economy, which offers good opportunities for Bavarian companies. In particular, the complementarity of the economies of Kazakhstan and Bavaria was noted, resulting in a high level of business interest in developing mutually beneficial cooperation.

An important step in this regard will be the launch of a direct Shymkent-Munich flight at the end of May 2025.

In addition, Roman Sklyar and Hubert Aiwanger made presentations at the round table on the same day: "Kazakhstan-Bavaria Business Dialogue. Kazakhstan as a partner in industrial and agricultural technologies and logistics". The event was attended by about 70 managers of Bavarian companies.

Representatives of such companies as Horsch, Linde Gas AG and Rhenus shared their experiences of doing business and developing business in Kazakhstan, as well as their opinions on financial and business opportunities in the country.

In his speech, Hubert Aiwanger appreciated the close economic ties between the Free State of Bavaria and Kazakhstan. According to him, today Kazakhstan is the first trade partner of Bavaria among the CIS countries and the Central Asian region in terms of volume.

Roman Sklyar also held talks with Bertram Brossardt, Chairman of the Bavarian Business Association, which coorganised the round table.

Bavaria is the leading German state in terms of economic development.
In 2024, its GDP will amount to about 800 billion US dollars (Germany – 4.5 trillion US dollars), which would place it 22nd in the world, ahead of countries such as Argentina, South Africa, UAE, Sweden, Israel, Austria and Belgium.

According to German statistics, trade with Bavaria reached 4.7 billion euros in 2024, which is almost half of the total trade volume between Kazakhstan and Germany. Oil from Kazakhstan accounts for half of Bavaria's oil imports.

For Germany, Kazakhstan is ranked 43rd in the list of trading partners,
while for Bavaria it is ranked 21st. In terms of imports to Bavaria, Kazakhstan is even in 15th place, higher than, for instance, Belgium, Turkey, Japan, Vietnam and South Korea.
