Cooperation with Brazilian regions is expanding

Brasilia, April 3, 2025 – Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Brazil Bolat Nussupov visited the Representative Office of the State of Sao Paulo to the Federal Government of Brazil and met with its head, Secretary Mr. José Vicente Santini.
The agenda of the talks included issues of expanding regional cooperation between Kazakhstan and the Brazilian state of Sao Paulo in the fields of economy, trade, industry, logistics, instrument making, aviation and agriculture. Of particular interest were the possibilities of expanding industrial and agro-industrial cooperation with companies located in this state, as well as the widespread use of the «Santos» trade port for the delivery of goods from South American countries to Kazakhstan and back.
The Ambassador shared the results of his working visit to the capital of the state of Sao Paulo and negotiations with the Deputy Governor of the region Mr. Felicio Ramuth on February 16, 2023. One of the agreements of this meeting was the possibility of creating in the future the Chamber of Commerce and Industry «Kazakhstan-State of Sao Paulo». In this regard, the Ambassador submitted for consideration by the Brazilian side a draft Memorandum of Understanding between the Embassy of Kazakhstan in Brazil and the Government of the State of Sao Paulo on the establishment of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry «Kazakhstan-Sao Paulo».
In August 2023, the first Honorary Consulate of Kazakhstan in this state was opened in the city of Sao Paulo. In this regard, the parties were unanimous in the opinion that the creation of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry will give additional impetus to trade, economic and investment cooperation between Kazakhstan and the most industrially developed region of Brazil.
Considering the federal structure of Brazil, regional cooperation is an important element in strengthening bilateral relations.
For reference: The state of São Paulo is the most industrialized region in Brazil, with GDP accounting for 33% of the country's total economy (2024: R$3.5 trillion, about US$700 billion). The state produces more than a third of Brazil's GNP (about $300 billion). The leading industries in the state's economy are mechanical engineering, automobile manufacturing, aircraft manufacturing, trade, finance, textile and food industries, logistics and services. The headquarters and factories of major transnational companies and financial institutions of Brazil are located in the state. Sao Paulo International Airport is the largest transport and logistics hub and air gateway to the countries of South America.
