The individual and team championship in kazakhsha kures for the Cup of the Commander-in-Chief of the National Guard of the Republic of Kazakhstan took place in the city of Semey.

The event was dedicated to the memory of 17 soldiers of the Internal Troops of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan who lost their lives on April 7, 1995, on the Tajik-Afghan border. During the opening ceremony, participants honored their memory with a moment of silence.

— It is important for us to remember the heroism of the soldiers who remained loyal to their oath and died with honor far from home. Our main goal is to revive and popularize the national sport among National Guard servicemen, — said Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the National Guard, Major General Bauyrzhan Abzhanov.

According to the chief referee of the championship, Colonel Ruslan Zhakupbekov, seven teams took part in this year’s competition, including teams from the regional commands "Оңтүстік", "Орталық", "Батыс", "Шығыс", the National Guard Academy, and military units 6654 and 5573.

— The level of the championship is very high, as it includes athletes who compete internationally. This is the second year the championship is being held as a tradition, — Zhakupbekov noted.

The winners and medalists were awarded by Major General Bauyrzhan Abzhanov, champion of Kazakhstan in kazakhsha kures and international master of sports in sambo and national wrestling Aybek Nugymarov, international master of sports in kazakhsha kures, judo and sambo Yerasyl Qazhybayev, and other honored guests.

After two days of intense competition, the team of military unit 5573 won first place in the team standings, the National Guard Academy team took second, and the team from regional command "Оңтүстік" placed third.

The prizewinners were awarded medals, trophies, and badges on behalf of the Commander-in-Chief of the National Guard, Ansagan Baltabekov, and also received cash prizes from the city administration.
