West Kazakhstan region is preparing for the flood period

On Thursday, March 13, at the meeting of the Republican headquarters for coordination of anti-flood measures, chaired by the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Olzhas Bektenov, Akim of the West Bank Nariman Toregaliuly gave a report on the measures being taken to prevent possible floods. However, regional authorities have taken additional measures to control the situation. In addition to 22 hydro stations in the region, 7 new monitoring stations were installed. In addition, three automated control systems will be launched in Zhayik, Shagan and Derkol rivers, which will be fully operational by the end of March. These systems allow quick monitoring of the water level and prompt response to possible threats.
Akim of the region noted that the civil defense system of the region has been moved to high readiness mode. All water reservoirs in the region are working in transit mode," said Nariman Toregaliuli.
In order to prevent expected emergency situations, a considerable amount of material and technical resources fund was created in the region. 1.8 thousand special equipment, 123 floats, 455 motor pumps and more than 4 thousand employees are mobilized around the clock. In addition, more than 12 thousand tons of inert material, 413 thousand bags, 423 tons of fuel and lubricants were prepared. More than 95,000 sandbags were prepared. In addition, 317 temporary evacuation stations designed to accommodate 32,000 people were prepared. Also, 195 special places have been designated for moving farm animals to safe areas.
It should be noted that the regional flood control headquarters started its work on March 10. Currently, elimination of the consequences of the winter season and preparations for floods are being intensively carried out. 916 thousand cubic meters of snow were removed, 49.3 thousand cubic meters of melted water were pumped, 27 kilometers of drainage channels, 62 kilometers of ditches and more than 1,200 water pipes were cleaned. Also, 1.5 thousand square meters of land was inspected.
Preparation for floods is under the personal control of the regional akim.
