A large-scale sports and cultural event dedicated to the Nauryz holiday, “Ata Saltym – Asyl Kazynam,” was held at the Tolkyn sports complex in the capital, the official website of the city akimat reported.
The competition, which was held for the first time in the capital, was organized by the city’s Department of Physical Culture and Sports. The sports school of the specialized children’s and youth Olympic reserve No. 3 under the Department of Physical Culture and Sports of Astana, participated in the competition.
The main feature of the event was the revival of the “Tokymkagar” tradition, dedicated to the first horseman who set off on a long journey.
“In accordance with the special concept for the comprehensive and systematic organization of the Nauryz holiday at the national level, our school made its contribution today within the framework of the “Nauryznama” decade. During the competition, traditional games such as tug-of-war, weight lifting, Kazakh wrestling, and asyk atu were organized. And the most interesting moment of the competition was the “Tokymkagar” tradition. "Within the framework of this tradition, we sent our school's athlete to the competition and received blessings from the elders," said Mukhamed-Rakhim Ibrayev, head of the sports school of the specialized children's and youth Olympic reserve No. 3.
According to the organizers, the competition aims to promote national customs among organizations, as well as to strengthen the spirit of unity in teams. Special guests were also invited to the event. They got acquainted with the rich heritage of the Kazakh people, watched national games, and participated in traditional ceremonies.
The general competition will continue until November 19. After that, the jury will evaluate the participants' performance and draw conclusions.
