Almaty adopted the Road Map for the development of civil society institutions
10.04.2025 16:50:00 264Today, about 4,000 NGOs or more than 20% of all Kazakhstan’s public organizations are registered in Almaty. The adoption of the document will develop the cooperation on the use of best practices, forms and mechanisms in the realization of state policy in the sphere of civil society, religion and youth.
During the meeting, Bauyrzhan Baibek noted that the executive committee of Almaty made a clear understanding of the need to develop a cooperation with public organizations of the city, including through supporting social initiatives. According to him, this is the most important condition for the development of a culture of dialogue and responsibility.
"Openness, accountability and maximum involvement of civil society are key principles in our work. Today, all socially significant projects and decisions are examined in the Public Council of the city. For the first time, the strategic program for the development of the city “Almaty-2020” was adopted after a broad public discussion among the citizens," the head of the city said.
In its turn, Darkhan Kaletaev said that the Road Map provides for a number of cooperative events. Especially, the opening of the Civic Center, the holding of training seminars for NGO representatives and the organization of cooperation with the U38 Universities Alliance are planned in Almaty.
In the sphere of religion, it is planned to conduct refresher courses for imams of the city, organize republican seminars and trainings, and develop information and explanatory materials. As part of the implementation of the youth policy, the Youth Forum of the CIS Member States and the organization of a republican gathering of volunteers are scheduled.
