The Ministry of National Economy of Kazakhstan and the Ministry of Economic Development of the Russian Federation will prepare a program of cross-border cooperation between the countries for 2020-2025
10.04.2025 16:54:58 264Timur Suleimenov, Minister of National Economy, and Maxim Oreshkin, Minister of Economic Development of the Russian Federation, on Friday signed a memorandum of intent on the preparation and implementation of the Kazakhstan-Russia cross-border cooperation program.
The document was signed within the framework of the XV Forum of Interregional Cooperation of Kazakhstan and the Russian Federation, which took place on November 9 in Petropavlovsk.
The parties expressed their intention to jointly prepare and implement the Kazakhstan-Russia Border Cooperation Program for 2020-2025. It will be aimed at strengthening mutual understanding and bilateral cooperation, as well as the exchange of information on regional policy issues. For the implementation of the Program, the parties intend to develop an appropriate Agreement.
Among the objectives of the Kazakhstan – Russia Border Cooperation Program for 2020–2025 are: support and facilitation of cooperation between Kazakhstan’s border regions and Russian regions; creation of territories attractive for living, working, and educating future generations; cooperation and exchange of information on the promotion of small and medium-sized businesses, strengthening the competitiveness of cross-border local industries, increasing the level of employment of the cross-border population, as well as the implementation of measures to develop inter-territorial cooperation.
It also provides for the exchange of information on the experience of developing and implementing regional policies, strengthening cross-border cooperation and the socio-economic development of border regions.
The XV Forum of interregional cooperation of Kazakhstan and Russia "New approaches and trends in the development of tourism in Kazakhstan and Russia" was attended by heads of ministries and departments, heads of regions of Kazakhstan and the Russian Federation, and business representatives. The presidents of Kazakhstan and the Russian Federation signed a joint action plan of the two countries for 2019-2021, in the presence of the leaders five more bilateral documents were signed. In total, for two events more than 30 commercial and interregional documents were signed.
The President of Kazakhstan, Nursultan Nazarbayev, pouring out a welcoming speech, noted that "during its existence, the forum has established itself as an effective interstate platform, has become an important institution of political and economic interaction between countries."
