Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan signed an Agreement on labor activity and protection of rights of migrant workers
11.04.2025 06:22:33 253On April 15, 2019, a number of bilateral government documents were signed in Tashkent within the framework of the state visit of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan K. K. Tokayev to the Republic of Uzbekistan, including the Agreement between the Government of RK and the Government of RU on labor activity and protection of rights of migrant workers. Agreement of the Kazakh side was signed by the Minister of labor and social protection of population Berdibek Saparbayev, from Uzbek side by the Minister of employment and labor relations Sherzod Kudbiev.
The signing of the Agreement will further strengthen cooperation between countries in regulating labor migration and create favourable conditions for the movement of labor and the protection of workers' rights.
In accordance with the agreements, migrant workers have the right to rest, to receive a guaranteed amount of free medical care for acute diseases that pose a danger to others in accordance with the legislation of the host state and the terms of the employment contract.
At the same time, medical services that are not included in the list of guaranteed volume of free medical care are provided on a paid basis or within the framework of voluntary medical insurance.
Wages and other working conditions of migrant workers are regulated by an employment contract with the employer in accordance with the legislation of the host state. At the same time, wages should not be lower, and working conditions should not be less favorable than for the citizens of the receiving state.
In addition, in the event of death or injury to a migrant worker related to the performance of his or her work duties, the employer shall make payments and compensation established by the legislation of the receiving state.
