A round table titled “30 Years of Remembrance and Courage of the Internal Troops' Warriors: Lessons and Conclusions” was held at the National Defense University.

The event brought together officers from the Main Command of the National Guard of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan, representatives of the Ministry of Defense, Border Guard Service of the National Security Committee, State Protection Service, Ministry for Emergency Situations, teaching staff and master's students of the National Guard's military training and operations support faculties, as well as cadets from military and law enforcement academies of Kazakhstan, and master's students from Tajikistan and the Kyrgyz Republic.

The event began with a moment of silence in memory of the fallen soldiers.

The keynote address was delivered by Deputy Commander of the National Guard of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Bauyrzhan Abzhanov. He recalled the tragic events that took place 30 years ago:

— This day will forever remain in our memory. Thirty years ago, our soldiers, members of “Kazbat,” came under armed attack. Despite being outnumbered, they fought back with honor. However… the battle came at a great cost. Seventeen young soldiers gave their lives in the line of peace. Today, memorials bearing their names have been erected in every region of the country. Each year, military personnel, law enforcement representatives, veterans, and relatives of the fallen gather there. The alley near the Monument to the Defenders of the Fatherland in Astana, where 17 trees have been planted and a memorial plaque installed, stands as an eternal symbol of their heroism, — said Bauyrzhan Sadykovich.

Among the honored guests were veterans of those tragic events — Kairatbek Satbayev and Nurzhan Baybossynov — who shared emotional recollections of their brave comrades.

Retired high-ranking officers of the Armed Forces and National Guard — Lieutenant General Bulat Janasaev, Major Generals Zhumabek Akhmetov, Bakhtiyar Syzdykov, Kaliakpar Tokushev, and Reserve Colonel Sabyrzhan Suleymenov — emphasized the importance of combat experience, the need for its study by young officers, and the significance of immortalizing the memory of those who sacrificed their lives for their homeland.

Colonel Iftikhor Faizullozoda from Tajikistan and Colonel Meder Eshenkulov from the Kyrgyz Republic also gave speeches, highlighting international practices of honoring fallen soldiers and the role of heroic traditions in the training of modern officers.

Such gatherings foster patriotism among young servicemen, reinforce respect for fallen heroes, and strengthen international military cooperation.
