Constitutional Oversight and Legal Education: Meeting with a Constitutional Court Judge at Sh. Yessenov Caspian University

A meeting was held at Sh. Yessenov Caspian University in Aktau as part of the implementation of the National Action Plan dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the Constitution of the Republic of Kazakhstan, “The Basic Law is the basis of independence.” The event featured Judge of the Constitutional Court Aizhan Zhatkanbayeva and representatives of the General Prosecutor’s Office.
The event was attended by representatives of local executive and law enforcement bodies, the legal community of the Mangystau Region, scholars, and university students.
Aizhan Zhatkanbayeva introduced participants to the evolution of Kazakhstan’s system of constitutional justice, the mandate of the reestablished constitutional oversight body, and its role in ensuring the supremacy of the Constitution. During her speech, she also cited several examples from constitutional proceedings, demonstrating how the Constitutional Court’s rulings contribute to the protection of citizens’ rights and the strengthening of the rule of law. The judge emphasized the importance of legal education and the development of a constitutional and legal culture among the population, particularly the youth.
