University Student Caught Attempting to Smuggle Smartphones into Prison in Ust-Kamenogorsk

Another attempt to smuggle communication devices to inmates has been thwarted in Ust-Kamenogorsk.

This time, a local university student was apprehended while trying to throw six smartphones over the prison fence. During a routine patrol of the surrounding area, staff from Correctional Facility No. 17, together with service dog handler Temirbek Gubaydullin from military unit 6699 and his K9 partner "Thor", detained the suspect at one of the facility's perimeters.

During a personal search of the offender, officers found a package wrapped in duct tape containing six mobile phones of the brands Samsung, Huawei, and Oppo.

The suspect, born in 2005, was identified as a student at a local university in Ust-Kamenogorsk. According to his statement, he was asked by an acquaintance to deliver the items in exchange for a monetary reward.

The confiscated phones were handed over to the Department of the Penal Enforcement System (KUIS) for further investigation. The detained individual and the seized contraband were transferred to the relevant authorities.
