A round table meeting titled "Ulttyk Kuryltai: Aldagy Maksattar and Mindetter" was held in Kyzylorda, attended by Malik Otarbayev, Advisor to the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, and Nurlybek Nalibayev, the Akim of the region.
The regional head discussed the socio-economic development of Kyzylorda and emphasized the importance of hosting the next National Kurultai meeting in the region in 2026. With the special support of the Head of State and the Government, Kyzylorda has become a hub for significant initiatives and creative projects. The region leads the republic in all major macroeconomic indicators, with the regional budget exceeding KZT 750 billion , up from KZT 364 billion three years ago. These funds are dedicated to improving the quality of life for residents and implementing large-scale infrastructure projects. With direct support from the Head of State, a new thermal power plant with a capacity of 240 megawatts is under construction in Kyzylorda. The Turkish company Aksa Energy, the investor, has invested KZT137 billion in the project and has completed over 70 percent of the work. The facility is set to be commissioned in September. Following the President's instructions, to prevent electricity shortages in the southern regions, an agreement was reached during an intergovernmental meeting in Qatar to build a combined-cycle plant with a capacity of 1,100 MW, costing KZT 892 billion. This megaproject is expected to be commissioned in 2028.
